Last Thursday evening I had the privilege of attending the Evolution of Manufacturing Awards and what a great night it was. It would be an understatement to say that Fred Koury and Smart Business can put on a great event. This year's event was extra special for me as it was hosted at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), which is one of our customers. Additionally, another one of our customers, RBB Systems was recognized as a 2013 Honoree.
In previous years the event was held at Hyland Software in Westlake. This year's venue was fantastic. With four rooms, several bars and several food stations, the event flowed seamlessly and you never felt crowded. Food was great and the networking was even better. In addition to the awards, the event hosted a small business conference or trade show that also delivered. With tables and booths from leading companies in all specialties and industries it was a great opportunity to network and learn about all of the great things happening in Cleveland. One of my favorite booths was the Ohio.net booth. Ohio.net sent out letters to each confirmed attendee with a special key to try your chances at winning a treasure. I did not win but it was fun to see all of the people with keys walking around testing their luck. Additionally, I ran into an old friend, Danielle Barbato Syroney, from All Things Eventful.
At SyncShow Interactive we are especially proud of Bruce Hendrick and the RBB Systems team. RBB specializes in the small batch manufacturing of circuit boards. What is so special about RBB is that years ago they saw a niche in the circuit board manufacturing process and instead of focusing on large batch or large quantity orders they did the opposite. It takes a lot of guts to make such a major shift and RBB has proven that focus and dedication can mean big results.
All in all it was a great night and I look forward to next year.
